The people are now seen
the sign and living the consequence of the acts that society have done to this world.
Acts that are slowly destroying and killing the environment that surround us. Now, in our time of reflection,
humanity must act upon this. We have to change our actions before it is too late.
In the northern part of Guayama there is an area that contain a vast amount of mangrove trees. A beautiful ecosystem full of endangered species and wildlife beyond compare. They are also the nursing home of many marine creature. A study made by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) shows that one can find 25 more species of marine animal in a coral reef that is near a mangrove forest than in one that doesn’t. They also serve as a barrier, not letting high quantities of sediment and stopping the pollution from reaching the seas and the coral reefs. It is not far fetch to say that the mangroves are the epicenter of the marine life. Now they face an even bigger problem, men with the power of technology.

A
company that helps to give energy to Puerto Rico bought part of the area.
Instead of protecting the area they dried the swamp up, cut the mangrove to
place solar panels. This is now causing
the ecosystem of the area to become unbalance. Examples of this can be the increase
in the rate of extinctions of many species that called the area their home,
with an alarming drop in the levels of water and causing the death of many
other mangroves in the area.
Now more than ever, the
citizens are been call to open the eyes and see the things that are happening
around us. Look and act on the things that surround us with the goal to find what
the best thing for this world is. To understand the full meaning of life and
try to live by it. Because, ironically, nature most suffer in order to protect
it.
